Terms and Conditions
MetaROR is a joint initiative of AIMOS and RoRI, built as a community-driven collaboration for metaresearch. It is an experiment within RoRI’s broader project on Peer Review. By using MetaROR’s platform, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. MetaROR’s mission includes promoting innovative peer review models and enhancing collaboration between researchers. If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions in full, you do not have permission to access MetaROR and should discontinue use immediately.
MetaROR is community-owned by researchers in the field of science, technology, and knowledge creation. The platform will collaborate with technology providers, but they will not own the platform. All content, including software, application programming interfaces (APIs), and associated materials, is subject to intellectual property laws. The MetaROR platform operates independently, and all rights are reserved except as explicitly stated in these Terms and Conditions.
Unless otherwise stated, content published on MetaROR is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0). This allows users to freely use, reproduce, and distribute articles and content for both commercial and noncommercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given to the original source. Authors submitting content to MetaROR agree to its distribution under this open-access framework. This includes review and assessment reports submitted in the course of peer review, which will be publicly accessible and linked to articles. Contributions must adhere to platform guidelines on conduct and usage.
MetaROR is committed to fostering a respectful and lawful research environment. Users agree not to upload or transmit content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, or violates intellectual property rights. The platform strictly prohibits unsolicited advertising, impersonation, or the use of MetaROR for illegal activities. Violation of these terms may result in restricted access or termination of use.
MetaROR reserves the right to limit, suspend, or terminate access without notice if users violate these Terms and Conditions. MetaROR may take legal action or cooperate with law enforcement if necessary to address violations. Users acknowledge that MetaROR is not required to pre-screen content but retains the right to remove any objectionable material.
The MetaROR platform, its content, and services are provided “AS IS” without warranties of any kind. MetaROR, its partners (such as AIMOS, RoRI), and its technology providers do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free. Users should critically assess research published through MetaROR and assume full responsibility for any actions taken based on the platform’s content.
MetaROR and its partners are not liable for any damages or losses arising from the use of the platform, including direct, indirect, or consequential damages. The maximum liability for MetaROR’s partners or providers shall not exceed the amount paid by users in the last twelve months (if any), excluding indemnity payments.
Users are responsible for their own actions on MetaROR and agree to indemnify MetaROR and its partners against any claims arising from their use of the platform, including any violations of intellectual property or data privacy rights. Users must ensure compliance with all legal and platform-specific requirements when using or contributing to MetaROR.
MetaROR may provide links to external websites for convenience or reference. MetaROR is not responsible for the content or availability of such external resources. Users engaging with third-party sites do so at their own risk, and MetaROR holds no liability for interactions with such resources.
MetaROR reserves the right to modify or discontinue any aspect of the platform without notice. Users are encouraged to review these Terms and Conditions regularly, as continued use of the platform after modifications constitutes acceptance of any changes.
Certain features of MetaROR may require user registration and may be subject to additional terms and conditions, which will be presented at the time of registration. Any specific terms related to these features will take precedence over general platform terms.
Any delay or indulgence by MetaROR in enforcing any provision of these Terms and Conditions shall not affect MetaROR’s right to enforce those provisions at any time. Any waiver of a breach will not operate as a waiver of any subsequent or continuing breach. If any provision is determined to be illegal, invalid, or unenforceable under the laws of the United Kingdom, it shall be severed, but the remaining provisions will continue in effect. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and any specific terms appearing elsewhere on the MetaROR platform relating to specific material, the latter shall prevail.
